Hatha Yoga - The literal meaning of hatha is taken to stubbornly do something.  H means sun and tha means moon.  The equal state of the Sun and the Moon is Hatha Yoga.  Hatha Pradipika describes the four parts of hatha yoga – asana, pranayama, mudra and bandha and nadanusadhana.  The Gherandasamhita has seven limbs – Shatkarma, Asana, Mudrabandha, Pranayama, Dhyana, Samadhi, while the Yoga Tatva Upanishad describes eight limbs – Yama, Niyama, Asana, Pranayama, Pratyahara, Dharana, Dhyana, Bhramadhyeharim and Samadhi.

Raja Yoga - Raja Yoga is called the king of all yogas because in it some or the other ingredients of each type of yoga are definitely found.  The description of Ashtanga Yoga composed by Raja Yoga Maharishi Patanjali comes.  The subject of Raja Yoga is to quell the mind.  According to Maharishi Patanjali, for those with a contained mind, practice and dispassion and for those with a deranged mind, the way forward has been suggested by resorting to Kriya Yoga.  By using these means, the sufferings of the seeker are destroyed, the light of knowledge spreads by becoming happy and the fame of wisdom is attained.

When and How to do Yoga

Before doing yoga, you must know this thing:

If you are going to do yoga for the first time, then get some information from a yoga guru.  You will not have any problem with this.  If you are suffering from any physical ailments, then you should definitely not do yoga without the advice of an expert.

Yoga should always be done at a fixed time.  You can do yoga by getting up early in the morning, before meals in the afternoon or in the evening.  It is generally considered very good to do yoga in the morning, because at that time you and your surroundings are calm and your energy-power is also high in the morning.

You choose any clean and quiet place in your house, where you have enough space and you can do yoga by laying your yoga mat there.  Remember that the place should be ventilated and clean.  Keep in mind that never do yoga on the floor or floor.  If you do yoga in the morning, then keep your face towards the east or north direction and while doing yoga in the evening, do yoga facing west or south.

Never do yoga-asanas immediately after eating.  Doing so can prove to be very harmful.  Do yoga in the morning on an empty stomach.  If you do not have time to do yoga in the morning, then in the day you can do yoga after 2 to 3 hours of having food.  Vajrasana is one such asana, which should be done immediately after eating food, because this asana helps in keeping your digestive system in order.  Breathing through the mouth while doing yoga can be harmful.

Keep in mind that never wear tight clothes while doing yoga, because by wearing such clothes you will not be able to do yoga-asanas well and for a long time.  Do yoga by wearing loose and comfortable clothes.  Apart from this, if you are wearing jewelry and jewelery in the neck, hands, feet, then take them out before doing yoga.  Avoid heavy make-up before doing yoga.
